Sarah Orne Jewett
Sarah Orne Jewett 1849-1909 was an American Fiction writer - a contemporary of Mark Twain - who grew up and lived for most of her life in South Berwick, Maine. Strongly recognised as one of the best regionalist writers of the period, most of her works are based on the countryside and characters best known to her from this area of New England and provide a valuable insight into that area in the late 19th century.
